Alchemisery Release 6


I promised releases would slow but then myself and a playtester promptly found 4-5 bugs that potentially break various important paths or solutions.

I also figured out some nice quality-of-life improvements and overall cleaned things up a bit.

  • Added a "use" command that can be used on several tools.
    • For the most part, "use <tool> on <thing>" should work, or "put <thing> in <tool>" then "use <tool>".
      • For example "use mortar on basil" instead of "grind basil in mortar".
      • "put basil in mortar" then "use mortar" will also work.
    • The command will give you advice on using it if it can't be used properly given its current inputs.
  • New "loot <container>" command that works similarly to "take all from <container>".
  • In some scenarios, "climb <up/down>" will work similar to "go <up/down>".
  • Bugs involving various ingredients, tools, and other interactive items are fixed.
  • More of the default Inform strings are replaced with alchemist-friendly versions.
  • Better feedback when using a tool, for instance "You <use the tool> and end up with <result of tool>" instead of simply "You <use the tool>".
  • Updated "help" and "credits" commands.
