Crafting Update!
Howdy all,
I have a couple of updates in terms of features, especially additions to the crafting system. But first:
Over the last few months, work on Myelin: Escape the Spire has slowed to a crawl. This is for a few reasons. One is that I have been working on the web client, which is up at myelin.space.
However, another reason is that I've been dealing with some health issues in real life and thus my time/energy for developing hobby projects is diminished. This will remain the case for the foreseeable future, unfortunately.
That said, I have managed to make a number of bugfixes as well as working towards worldbuilding and some more coherent content (including more dialogue for the sentient NPC). Plus slightly more balanced classes and NPCs.
Now, onto the major-ish changes: Crafting!
- craft list' will only show you item recipes that you can create or have otherwise learned about.
- 'craft search <keyword>' will let you search for an item by keyword.
- Some craft-ables now require a tool, an inventory item that can be carried or equipped but is needed to make the craft. It will not be consumed.
- Some craft-ables now will consume an inventory item. These will mostly be upgrades to semi-broken items you may find.
- Resources are now more limited. You may only carry 100 of each resource. Recipes have been adjusted accordingly.
Future crafting updates include:
- Workshops: specialized scenery items that must be used to craft certain items. They may also be used to store certain resources.
- More ways of learning recipes.
- Using resources to decorate/reinforce items, improving their abilities.
And, some big picture things to look for in the future:
- More updates to the web client.
- Overhaul of combat system to be slower-paced and more strategic.
- Updates at the engine level (from hacked-together Ranvier 2, to Ranvier 3 or Pinwheel)
